One very important and often overlooked characteristic of an area like ours is its emergency management and medical response capabilities. Collier County has one of the most advanced life support and emergency management infrastructures in the state of Florida.

Collier County has eleven fire control districts within its boundries. Eight districts are protected by independent fire departments, with Collier County managing the remaining three. In addition, Collier County Emergency Medical Services runs a fleet of Advanced Life Support ambulances and two Medflight helicopters.

The Collier County Emergency Management Department works in conjunction with the Florida Division of Emergency Management and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to provide complete disaster planning and recovery operations for the area.
